Senior Community Service Employment Program

MISSION and Purpose
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) serves low-income unemployed persons who are 55 years of age and older and who have poor employment prospects by training them in part-time community service assignments and by assisting them in developing skills and experience to facilitate their transition to unsubsidized employment.

Our purposes are to foster individual economic self-sufficiency and promote useful opportunities in community service assignments  for unemployed low-income persons who are 55 years of age or older, particularly persons who have poor employment prospects, and to increase the number of older persons who may enjoy the benefits of unsubsidized employment in the private and public sectors

HOW THE PROGRAM IS FUNDED
Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission through Agreements with the Senior Service America, Inc. (SSAI) and the Alabama Department of Senior Services (ADSS) receives funding from Title V of the Older American Act through the U.S. Department of Labor to operate the Senior Community Service Employment Program.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Unemployed Seniors who are 55 years of age or older, that meet 125% of federally established poverty income guidelines, and resides in Alabama Tombigbee Regional  Commission ten-county region and can be places with one of our partners.  We are in partnership with non-profit agencies with 501C3 status and governmental agencies.

Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox

WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING IS OFFERED
Office Work,(clerical)  Building/Grounds Maintenance, Food Service, Drivers, Parenting  Aides, etc.
